Incorporating Evidece by using computer based clinical decision support system for health professionals. It is primarily on the proper usage of how automated tools are designed to support decision-making activities and improve the decision-making process and decision outcomes.

  CDSS is designed to support healthcare providers in making decisions about the delivery of patients care. Thus this CDSS has a primary goial which is the optimization of both the efficiency and effectiveness with which clinical decisions are made and care is delivered.

This Nursing Decision Support Systems or the (NDSS) are tools that help nurses improve their effectiveness, determine areas in need of policy or protocol development. NDSS would contribute in making the nurse’s work easier and faster. It also includes a set of knowledge based tools that can be fully integrated with the clinical data embedded in the computerized patient record or the EHR. It also focus on treatment, diagnosis, or specific patient information. I also learned that DSS aids in assisting in problem solving with semi structured problems.

The five elements in evaluating CDSS. 

• Integrated real-time patient database is needed to provide context for results interpretation.
• Data-drive mechanism that allows event triggers to go into effect and activate alerts and reminders automatically.
• Knowledge engineer is a knowledge representation scheme used in the system.
• Time-driven mechanism or the execution of programs at a specific time.
• Long-term clinical data repository-data collected over time from a variety of sources allowing a longitudinal patient record.

Knowing this all makes you go crazy RAR.heheheh

PDA and Wireless devices cHapter 9

Back to our topic in nursing informatics the reporter discuss about the PDA or personal digital assistant and wireless devices. We all know that PDA and wireless devises are common now in our time today thus this devices are commonly used in people specially the nurses in other contries for the betterment of their work.

Why nurses use PDA's??

Nurses uses pda because it allows to manage and organize time effectively and efficiently.

It also help nuses to improved patient care by bringing information to the nurse at the point of care at the moment that information is mostly needed.

There are lots of generic functions of pda one of this are the following:

1.Address book

2. Calculator

3. Date book

4. Memo pad

5. Note pad

6. To do list

PDA's and wireless devices are very usefull not only for the nurses but also for other puposes.

ChaPter 8 THE INTERNET: A NURSING RESOURSE

         Hi There followers im back!!!!!!!

           We are going to tacle about internet as a nursing resource. We all know that internet had a great help for nurses, we nurses we often rely on the internet for some basic purposes. We surf in the intrnet for a reseach thats the great help for internet.

In 1957 Russian launch sputnik, the result was the creation of Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA) by President Eisenhower. Packet Switching- devised system result of dividing message into smaller pieces, each individually addressed, invented by Paul Barran.

The internet's DNS permits as to give globally unique "names" to networks and computer.

BENEFITS:

Easier to remember than longs string of no.

Allows for a change of physical location that is transparent to the user.

The internet had over 109 million host in 230 countries as released by the INTERENET SOFTWARE CONSORTIUM in March 15, 2001 from data during January 2001.

There are many uses of internet, with internet we can send E-mails and by emails we can attached some imoticons, we can transfer a file if we can transfer a file we can also attach files using the browser.

Using a word wide web ( WWW ) it allows as to received, interpret, and send to a client computer the request file. WWW was invented by Tim Berners-lee.

Hello everyone how are you???? today I will share to you what I have learned about DATA PROCESSING so what is Data Processing????

      The word data is commonly used to mean “information.” It often suggests large amounts of information in a standardized format. Data may be or contain letters, numbers, equations, dates, images, and other material. Used specifically, data processing refers to a discrete step in the information processing cycle. In information processing, data is acquired, entered, validated, processed, stored, and output, either in response to queries or in the form of routine reports. Used in a more general sense, data processing refers to the act of recording or otherwise handling one or more sets of data.
One of the key points about the term data processing is that it is used by some synonymously with information processing, while others make a distinction between the two. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in their publication Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010–2011 Edition, have an entry for “Data Entry and Information Processing Workers.” Here, a distinction is being made between “data” which is raw and “information” which has undergone some processing: the two are being treated as distinct, with data preceding information.

Large amounts of data processing used to be done manually, leading to many data processing jobs in businesses. These days it is a highly streamlined process, but many people still are needed to help ensure information gets saved by programs correctly.

In computing, data processing can be used to refer to the use of a software application to work on some kind of input data in order to create some sort of output. The result might be anything from a multimedia file to an image, or a text file. Usually entering words as one thinks of them is not considered as data entry, so writing a story using a word processor would not qualify as data processing.

The Second Day of our Class

The second day of our class we had a reporting on such different topic. My classmates report about the hardware, software and open source software. The reporters should finished all those topic and in the next day we had our quiz on the three chapters.

You know what it was very difficult to adopt to such way our instructor will give quizes but unfortunately I know how are teacher give quizes.

Nursing Informatics is a tough subject but i know that we can pass this subject if we passed those quizes and exams.

By this Nursing Informatics I know what that hardware is. So let me tell you a simple recap on the discussion of my classmate about this computer hardware. definitely a computer hardware is define as all the physical component of the machine itself. The first digital computer called the " COLOSSUS MARK I was build in 1943. The first generation computers uses a vacuum tubes as a design, but then they found out that this vacuum tubes get hot faster and it is physically huge. By lots of inventions the develop this second generation computer where the uses transistors unlike vacuum tubes they wont get heat faster. So on the develop the third generation computers where they use micro-miniature and solid state components. There are 3 classes of computer the analog computer which operates on continuous physical or electrical magnitudes, measuring, ongoing continuous analog quantities such as voltage, current, temperature and pressure, next is the digital computer which operates on discrete discontinuous numerical digits using the binary numbering system. third one is the hybrid computers it contains both the analog and hybrid computers.

There are types of computers the supercomputer, mainframe, microcomputer or personal computer and the hand held computer.


The main topic for this hardware is all about the CPU ( central processing unit ), motherboard, memory, input and outpout device such as mouse, keyboard and etc. storage davices like a hardisk.

THE SOFTWARE

So a software definiltly a software is the general term applied to the instructions that direct the computer's hardware to perform work. Software is what you install in the hardware.My classmates or shall I say the reporter report about the types of software so there are three types of software; the system software which controls the input and output as well as the storage and controls the operations of the applications of the software, application software is other type of software that includes the various programs that users require to perform day-to-day task, then last type of software is the utility programs this is what we call as the antivirus programs and etc.


There are lots of things and ideas in the report that you get.

OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE AND FREE SOFTWARE

If we talk about open source software and free software it comes in to our mind that is free. Yes it is free thus as we identify whats that open source software and free software is let me tell you a small identification for that.

An OSS or open source software is computer software that is available in source code form for which the source code and certain other rights normally reserved for copyright holders are provided under a software license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software. While tha free software is software that can be used, studied, and modified without restriction, and which can be copied and redistributed in modified or unmodified form either without restriction, or with minimal restrictions only to ensure that further recipients can also do these things and that manufacturers of consumer-facing hardware allow user modifications to their hardware.

Thats the end of the the first three chapter reporting done by our classmates.

My First Day of Informatics Class

I don't even know how to start here but its just a matter of it just came up into my mind that it was so easy to know about " informatics "....

The last time that our teacher discusses was about the history of nursing informatics and the history of computer. Yes our teacher talked about computer. As we all know nowadays that computer is the most powerful technological to transform nursing profession prior to the new century. Thus computer nowadays had a great help in nursing students. Without this computer it is very difficult for the nurse to get some information from the patient and barely right it on a sheet of paper. But with the help of the computer it is easy, accessible and doesn’t need more time and effort.

Going back to the topic nursing informatics if we define it, it refers to the integration of nursing. Thus the history talks that nurse’s uses computer in various ways. It is used as an EHR or electronic health record; this EHR is developed and managed by the health facility or a health provider. It is very beautiful to study about nursing informatics.
